A BASE jump consists using a parachute to jump from fixed objects. The BASE is a short for the basic types of departure:

Building: jump from a building or skyscraper
Antenna: jump from an antenna or tower
Span: jump from a bridge arch or deck
Earth: jump from a cliff

BASE jumping is much more dangerous than skydiving from aircraft and is currently regarded as a fringe extreme sport. Through the availability of specialised equipment and wider knowledge of techniques, it is safer today than in the early days, though the occasional fatalities and injuries occur. Some deaths through ground impact in freefall or object strike do occur, but most incidents are due to hazardous landing sites or other problems which develop after the parachute has opened.

Veteran 60-year-old rocker, Rod Stewart is a father again at the age of 60. The DO YA THINK I’M SEXY? singer is a father for the seventh time after fiancee Penny Lancaster gave birth to a baby boy.

The baby, who is their first child was born at a London hospital weighing 7 pounds, 7 ounces.

“Both Penny and our baby son are gorgeous, healthy and doing well,” Stewart said in a statement. “I am so very proud of my girl Pen for the commitment, courage and strength she showed throughout.”
