Let’s Migrate to Paris - Shortest working hours per year in the world

December 4th, 2006 by Maria

I came across this piece of picture which shows the average number of working hours per year for people in some major cities in the world. What’s astonishing is that people in Santiago, Kuala Lumpur and Bogota are the most hard working bunch, topping the list.

Santiago people works 2,250 hours in a year. A rough calculation reveals that perhaps he is only spending 8.4 hours at work in a day, taking into consideration Saturday and Sunday as non-working days. 8.4 hours is not a lot also, right?

Working hours chart

Which city are you currently staying in? How many hours do you work in a day?

At the end of the list is surprisingly, Paris! Folks, let’s migrate to Paris, where we get to relax the whole year… hahaha.

Rocky Balboa Trailer

December 3rd, 2006 by Maria

If you are an avid Rocky lover like myself, then you should know that Rocky is coming to town again! Anyway, just in case for the uninformed, Rocky Balboa is a struggling boxer starring Sylvester Stallone, trying to make the big time. He is a slightly dim-witted but good-hearted debt collector for a loan shark in Philadelphia with a talent for boxing. When heavyweight champion Apollo Creed visits Philadelphia, his managers want to set up an exhibition match between Creed and a struggling boxer, touting the fight as a chance for a “nobody” to become a “somebody”. The match is supposed to be easily won by Creed, but someone forgot to tell Rocky, who sees this as his only shot at the big time.

The film appropriately named Rocky, made for a low budget of only approximately US$1 million only. However, it became an instant hit, made over US$110 million and won three Oscars. It spawned four sequels, Rocky II, III, IV, and V; a sixth installment (titled Rocky Balboa, again starring and directed by Stallone) is expected to be released on December 20, 2006.

If December 20 2006 seems like too much a time for you to wait, then why not come here for the official trailer of this very much anticipated film?

Doha Asian Games Opening Pictures

December 2nd, 2006 by Maria

The 15th Asian Games is being held in Doha, Qatar from December 1, 2006 to December 15, 2006. Doha will be the first city in its region and only the second in West Asia since Tehran in 1974 to host the games.

Doha is the capital of Qatar, and is located near the Persian Gulf. Much of Qatar’s oil and natural gas wealth is visible in Doha, which is the economical centre of Qatar.

Hacken Lee Married Emily Lo

December 1st, 2006 by Maria

November 28th 2006 was an important day. This is because that day, one of my favorite Hong Kong celebrity, 39 year-old Hacken Lee and his former Miss Hong Kong girl friend, 33 year-old Emily Lo Suk Yee held their wedding at the Intercontinental Hotel. The bride and groom had dated for 14 years. Finally, they tied the knots!

Andy Lau Tak Wah was the best man, with Joey Leung Wing Chung, Lau Wai Hang, and TVB producer Chin Kwok Wai as the groomsmen. The Maid of Honor was Emily’s younger sister and the bridesmaids included Ada Choi, Margaret Chung Lai Kei, and Stephanie Che Yuen Yuen. Of course, a few hundreds of celebrities, friends and relatives were invited as the wedding guests.

“This is our wedding day. Please bless us. As for our feelings today, they can be adequately described as ‘very happy,”‘ reports quoted Hacken as saying.
