A tyrant by any other name is still evil?

July 22nd, 2008 by Maria

What if you shared a last name with a blood-thristy violent dictator?

Sure, there’s not going to be a school named after you, but in the worst of cases, you might, just might, get your bank account frozen.

Robert Mugabe

Yes, we know, we know. The modern world has been fretting about the evil that is Mr. Robert Mugabe - the world being all human beings of a working age in any functioning country.

Best nose digging pictures

July 21st, 2008 by Pamela

I was traveling on the plane a day before and caught a scene of a CEO-like man in his early forties, nicely dressed with pressed pants, clean shirt and a Tissot watch sturdily strapped on his wrist; get ready for this – the best “pick” I’ve ever seen.

I suppose he thought that nobody is looking at him so when the light was dimmed, he shoved his stubby last finger up his nostril and start the intensive digging for at least 15 minutes. Since I was sitting 45 degrees angle from him, I saw the whole scene clearly and that was the time I really wished for a camera.

Honestly, it is almost like watching these people picking nose:

Now, now Your Majesty, why not take off your gloves first?

It helps when I need to make important decisions. - Bush

LeAnn Rimes making use of her waiting time comfortably digging away.

Hillary! What happened if Obama sees you doing that?!

It’s now or never! Penelope Cruz subtly removing the “unwanted”.

A tree’s love is Immortality?

July 16th, 2008 by Maria

This is going to sound like the Magical Faraway Tree.

There is apparently a chic little restaurant in Okinawa, Japan that is built on top of a tree. Whole 20 feet above ground, with a view of the soothing ocean to boot!

Restaurant on a tree

How’s that for a prime business spot. Judging from the picture, I’m not sure if I would call it an “Ooh la la” eatery. But that’s not a fair judgment from someone who think mullets and glam rock pants should make a comeback.

Can you spell Mississippi?

July 11th, 2008 by Pamela

I always find geographical terms and names of places are the hardest to spell out. For example, like, the Mediterainians… I mean, Mediteraneans… Again! M-e-d-i-t-e-r-r-a-n-e-a-n-s. Whew…
Then I found a humourous and fun way to remember how to spell “Mississippi” through this joke:

A bus stops and two Italian men get on. They sit down and engage in an
animated conversation. The lady sitting behind them ignores them at
first, but her attention is galvanized when she hears one of
the men say the following:

“Emma come first. Den I come. Den two asses come together. I come
once-a-more. Two asses, they come together again. I come again and pee
twice. Then I come one lasta time.”

“You foul mouthed swine,” retorted the lady indignantly. “In this
country we don’t talk about our sex lives in public!”

“Hey, coola down lady,” said the man. “Who talkin’ abouta sexa? I’m
just tellin’ my frienda how to spella ‘Mississippi’.”

Don’t disturb the evidence!

July 11th, 2008 by Pamela

Calling all crime fans out there! Is this criminally cool or what? Having crime-solving kit at home is cool but not at the beach. So what is there to bring to the beach? How about this!
Machine-washable, soft, 100% cotton that look just like real crime chalked outline, you’ll definitely make a scene, or capture attentions and perhaps get interrogated by a few hotties with this Crime Scene Beach Towel. Time to look cool with nothing to lose.

In God We Trust

July 4th, 2008 by Maria

Some people are content with being Larry’s or Steven’s or Bob’s. Others prefer more unique names like Saleesha and Millicent and Aki. And then there are those that want something that they are sure no one else currently has or may ever have again.

Take Steve Kreusher, for instance. This Chicago bus driver petitioned and was approved to legally change his name to In God We Trust (”In God” now being his first name and “We Trust” being his last.) He claims that he wanted this name change to symbolize all of the help God gave him through tough times, but as he wants to use it to sign artwork he may just be wanting attention.

Talking about weird names… :)
