Miss Sister 2008 - Beauty Contest for Nuns

Is it just me or does this seem somewhat weird and strange - Italian Priest Organizes Beauty Contest for Nuns… A bit like an oxymoron, if you must.

The Miss Sister 2008 contest will start in September on a blog run by the Rev. Antonio Rungi and will give nuns from around the world a chance to showcase their work and their image.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not implying that nuns are not pretty or anything like that. No, no, no.
Hear me out, my point is lurking somewhere in this explanation. Nuns are supposed to be devoted to god, spirituality and doing good for humanity, etc. etc. so they personify the fact that everyone should look at inner beauty because of the good they do and other such feel-good explanations.
So doesn’t it defeat that idea if there is a beauty contest? Does it matter what you look like, if even the plainish looking do-gooders will go to heaven? Seriously warped contest!
Fair enough, there ain’t gonna be any swimsuit event (am I too conservative for being glad about that?). But Rev. Antonio Rungi, the genius behind the event, does ask for a photo of each candidate. Apparently that will be one of the traits judged by voters.
What next? A pin-up calendar of all the contestants for all the priests in the monastery?
