Today’s specials - Alien covered in Mushroom sauce

October 16th, 2008 by Maria

Bear with me on this, it promises to be your bizarre news of the day. Or the wtf story for the cooler, depending on where you fit into the grapevine.

So, here goes. Russian fishermen in Rostov recently made the catch of the day - a strange, shark-like creature.

Squeaky fish

Except it was not really a shark. The absence of the gaping mouth, biting chunk off your leg sort of movements, as is typical of any self respecting shark, was a bit of a giveaway.

Plus there was no ‘Jaws’ style music tingling up their spines. This could be due to the abnormal squeaky noises emitted by their ‘catch’. Hard to be scared of a sea creature that sounds like your son’s sleeping toy.

Must have looked quite unlike any shark-like creature we know because by the time the zealous scientists and ufologists showed up at the scene, Squeaky Shark was chopped, cooked and nestling safely in the tummies of the fishermen.

Let me take out a moment to say “Ewww!’.

I am pretty sure the experts who drove like crazy to observe it must have punched one of them. I guess they had to reassure themselves by oogling at the video of the creature captured on the cellphone.

In the meantime, Chairman of the Anomalous Phenomena Service apparently states that this does not look like an “extraterrestrial form of life”. Although it was purported to be an anomalous body.

Say what? And there’s a group called “Anomalous Phenomena Service”?

The whole deal sounds a bit like a hoax to me.

I don’t quite buy this man, definitely a hoax.

It’s on Youtube and someone finally commented that it was just a common guitarfish. Sure enough, looks like it from other YT vids. Can’t believe their version of X files got excited about it.

I agree, either a hoax or filming for a new, top secret movie!

I am a journalist from Maldives. On one of our remote islands, the natives were excited when they caught such a fish several months back. They also thought it was an alien and recited the Koran to ward off evil. But later our Environment Ministry and a PADI-certified private diving school confirmed that it was a guitarfish. Pretty unusual looking fish indeed. Cheers.
