Dong Zhi Festival
December 22nd, 2009
Dong Zhi (or Winter Solstice Festival) usually occurs on or around 22 December each year. This is a time in China when sunshine is weakest and daylight is shortest.
Traditionally Chinese families get together to eat Tang Yuan. These are brightly colored balls made out of glutinuous rice and symbolize reunion. Here are some shots I received in my email today.

I usually don’t get to eat such colorful tang yuans, but I’ll be looking forward to my family dinner and Tang Yuan tonight! Happy Dong Zhi to all our readers!
