According to a story I found via Boing Boing, it seems like someone’s rent was overdue and she was just impossible to get hold of which let to this distressing discovery! The Incredibly Messy House!

After the shock wears off and you stop gagging, you have to wonder what exactly happened to the tenant?

Did the rubbish finally win the sprawling battle to take over the house and she got pulled in by a mutant creature that was growing in its midst?

Was she late for work and in her rush, fall deep within the rubble where only the likes of Indiana Jones can save her now?

One of the world’s ironies? I noticed an Oral B toothbrush container and some semblance of cleaning or beauty products in the loo … so the concept of hygiene and cleanliness lurked somewhere in the back of her mind?

You know what her family will be getting her this Christmas – ash trays and rubbish bins. Possibly one year’s work of pay for a caretaker.

Well, what happens when you’ve paid your dues, stood in a queue with million other people to fill in papers and finally got your ID papers sorted out, only to find, a few years later, that you are no longer a citizen of that country!

Too much of a round about? Let me explain.

Quite a large number of Norwegians are discovering that they are in fact Swedes! Gasp!

So even though they were born in Norway and perhaps had a Norwegian dad with a respectable European mustache, bureaucratically speaking, they were in fact Swedish!!

Remember that nagging feeling you had all our life, that you don’t really belong? Well, your worst fears are now confirmed, you don’t!!

How does that happen? According to the article in Aften Post;

At the passport office at the Oslo police department, they are aware of the problem. Tormod Ødegård, leader of the passport section, thinks that poor routines in the past could explain why Swedish citizens have been issued Norwegian passports.

How does that even work? I mean, surely you need to prove citizenship before you get a passport? How slack were these guys in the first place?

Well let’s start from the beginning. The victim of this techno-theft, (mikesub @ Flickr) was a rather enthusiastic member of Flickr and the like. And so, if anyone else uses his phone try to upload a picture on any of those sites using that same phone and fail, the actual owner will get a nifty copy of the picture. Which is just what happened!

So far, mikesub doesn’t know if it’s of the thief, his neighbor, disowned relative or partner. But it’s a start.

Talk about getting caught with your pants down.

Why, why, why would you allow someone to take such a horrid pic of yourself?

And it’s not what you imagine the den of thief to look like, was it? So much for the media image of broken down buildings furnished by drugs stashes with a stack of pirated DVDs substituting for a coffee table. As for him, he doesn’t even have an evil squint; this looks like your average Joe in the Post Office!
